The Cleveland Indians are sitting pretty at 3-3 in the young 2018 season, which means that just in case you needed further proof that American League Central is a very competitive league, you may want to check out the Detroit Tigers, who are 4-1 and in 1st place.
That should guarantee a first-place finish. Still, here we are, and Yankees, Orioles, Rays, Angels, and Blue Jays are all 4-1 and in the hunt for AL Central lead.
Yankees have been very strong so far, while the Indians dropped their only series of the season in Texas, something that they are going to have to get over quickly.

Yankees vs Indians prediction
Yankees are currently ranked 3rd in the AL Central; the Indians are ranked 14th out of 15 teams. For those wondering, the Indians lost to the Detroit Tigers in a series that included four series games.
Yankees play the first game of their back-to-back weekend series on Sunday, which starts with Mike Clevinger on the mound against Bats-handling Lance Lynn. After the opener of the three-game series, the two will meet again in Cleveland on Monday for the second game of the series. Lynn leads the Yankees in winning percentage, going 3-0. Meanwhile, Clevinger is off to a great start for the Indians, going 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA (50.2IP).

The Indians could be back in the mix for a playoff spot by the time the Yankees visit town. I’ll be shocked if Clevinger doesn’t throw a number of quality innings in this three-game series which means we could see Lynn pitching for a lot more wins this season than Clevinger.
If Clevinger starts well and Lynn doesn’t, how many potential innings can Clevinger throw before being shut down? How many meaningful victories does Clevinger pick up in this series? (Although as with all MLB teams, he is from last year’s MVP-caliber team. Clevinger lost the AL Cy Young).
Clevinger is a guy who usually pitches better when the Cactus League teams come to town, and since he leads all starters in ERA, I’d expect him to give his team a great shot of winning. Let’s see what he can do on a big stage with a great hitter like Judge all around him.
The Yankees start their trip on Monday in Buffalo against a team like the Bisons, who just beat the Cleveland Indians in their last home series. This doesn’t appear to be a strong team, even though they just beat the Cleveland Indians. This team can’t hit, pitching and defense are both in shambles and that’s why they’ve got no chance.
Yanks should get off to a quick start today and very soon in Cleveland, thanks to their early-season display of hitting. With Ken Singleton as their hitting coach, they shouldn’t have any trouble bouncing back from their ugly streak in Texas, where they tied a franchise record for most losses in a nine-game series. By day game or night game, they have continued to post strong offensive numbers.
I predicted earlier this season that the Yankees would have one of the best offenses in the AL since I predicted they’d have Gary Sanchez and Gary Sanchez in the outfield as they were playing behind Greg Bird and Judge. Those two guys can both be great offensive players as they are the first two players in the world to catch more than 500 games and reach over 400 on-base and walk marks, respectively.
Yankee game today
But I had to be very accurate on Sanchez and Sanchez’s batting stats as they are batting a combined 22-22 so far and the rest of the Yankees are hitting 33-34. If the Yankees’ offensive numbers come around, they’ll continue to be a first-place team. No one is running away with the AL Central.
If they’re in first place at the end of the year, they could be breathing down the neck of the Oakland A’s for the division lead. (no one is even talking about the fact that the Royals are doing pretty well, as they’re sitting at 4-3). So we really have no control over this, but that doesn’t stop me from putting feelers out there. Don’t make my mistake, however, and please let me know who’s tipping my hand for Yankees vs Indians.
